The S.O.C.A. crew once again mops up the competition with five of our club cars heading to Myrtle Creek. We arrived a little after 9:30 and we quickly realized it was going to be cold and windy. I don’t think any of us brought jackets, as we were not expecting this kind of weather. However it quickly warmed up, and the wind died down to a dull breeze. Our classification was “Corvettes / Sports Cars”, the mustangs (all three of them) somehow got their own classification all by itself. The S.O.C.A. crew settled in and watched the spectators drooling over the shine on our Corvettes. The Heimlichs showing off their new paint job, the Sextons showing there new 2000 coupe, the Seerings with their latest silver coupe, the Wills’ showing all their new shiny stainless steel, and Jeff showing his red 64 coupe.
I noticed on the other side of the compound was a 1951 Spyder that was in our class, since we were in the Corvette / Sports Car classification. As the awards were handed out, the Heimlichs took third place, yours truly, (Jeff Gerber), took second place, and who took first place you ask? Well it was that 1951 Spyder. We had a great time hanging out together, and we drove home in Corvette style. What a great group of people we have in our club. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.
