The trip to Cottage Grove for Corvettes in the Park hosted by the Cascade Corvette Club began when Art and Grace Peary met up with Craig and Diane Westby and Saydee at a parking lot near the Hugo exit. The weather was perfect for a run of about 120 miles, less than a two hour drive up Interstate 5. We couldn’t wait to reach exit 148 for a rest stop and ice cream at the Rice Hill ice cream stand which was recommended in a recent issue of Sunset magazine. Oh yummy… the first of our "sins"! We arrived at the Comfort Inn in Cottage Grove in the early afternoon, and we were surprised to find out we had rooms right next to each other. It made for good socializing.

The afternoon was spent looking at cars as others arrived and meeting lots of Corvette friends from other clubs, many of whom were at our Corvette Weekend.

We had an early dinner then drove to Coiner Park to register for the weekend and enjoy, guess what, more ice cream (and "sinning") at the ice cream social. The Cascade Corvette Club was very friendly and relaxed. They had great live music in the park and we all enjoyed ourselves.

Saturday morning, the car show at Coiner Park began at 9:00 AM. We arrived and found that many cars were already there. It was beautiful the way the cars were parked in concentric circles around the park. Shade was ample and there was plenty of sunshine for those who wanted it. They provided coffee, juice and donuts, and had great music and lots of interesting raffle prizes. We all bought our tickets and put them in the buckets for the prizes we wanted to win the most. We found out that Florin Baldridge had also made the trip up on his own, in his beautiful black 1994 C-4 convertible which won a trophy in the C-4 class. There were some amazing cars there!

The show ended at 3:00 PM so there was ample time for tire-kicking and socializing back at the motel. At 6:00 PM dinner was served at the convention room at the motel… more barbecue, this time beef and pork with beans, potato salad and rolls, followed by cake and ice cream… I think we’re done "sinning" now! It was ample and quite tasty.

On Sunday morning we enjoyed a Poker Run through the local countryside that took us to three covered bridges and one old steel bridge. The entire weekend was LOTS of fun… now we’ve all vowed to stop "sinning" and eat healthy again …till next time!
