Sea Cruise - 2007
Sea Cruise

For sixteen years the Crescent City Chamber Of Commerce and the Crescent City Car Club have been putting on Sea Cruise, the last big car show of the year. And for most of those years, SOCA members have attended. This year ten cars made the trip "over the border" representing the club. It all started on Friday morning the 5th of October when six cars formed up in a mini caravan (a "mini-van"), which eventually became eight. We stopped in Cave Junction for a big breakfast, and then down through the redwoods to the coast. Registration in beautiful downtown Crescent City, and then on to the hotel where we became ten. Some cleaned and polished thier cars, others of us just watched them clean & polish thier cars, and then we all gathered for a "practice party". Next we were all off to dinner and then to bed, to rest up for a very busy Saturday.
Very very early Saturday morning we were all lined up out on the street, waiting for the showgrounds to open. As if by magic, Jeff suddenly had us at the head of the line, leading us in to our traditional place on "Corvette Hill". The car show is held at a beautiful seaside park that is mostly pretty flat, except for one little three foot high hill, Corvette Hill, where we arranged all our ten club Corvettes. From the hill, we could look out over a total of 379 cars. Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Classics, and of course Corvettes, about forty of them. Wow what a sight.
Late in the afternoon everyone gathered around the gazebo for the awards presentation. Our own Jeff Gerber and his Red '64 Coupe, won a first in class, and Greg Danner won a second for his '04 Spiral Gray Coupe. Congratulations, Jeff & Greg.
After dinner at The Chart Room, it was on to the Del Norte County fairgrounds for the big dance. The featured entertainment was the 50s/60s group, Rocky And The Revelettes. www.rockyrocks.com
What an absolute blast. We danced, and sang along, and danced, and clapped and danced some more. A big highlight, was when our own Sandee Anderson was called up on the stage to help out the group with some fantastic vocals. Oh yeah, Sandee, You Rock !!!
A caravan home with a stop at the Patrick Creek Lodge for breakfast, wrapped up a great weekend. We will be back next year, Oh Yeah!!
